Permits and Local Enforcing Authority

Nearly all water reuse strategies featured on Wholly H2o involve plumbing, landscaping, drainage and wastewater systems.

In many cases the laws will require you to obtain permits before beginning construction.

The standards, permits and inspections that apply to your project are determined by:

  • The type of water reuse (rainwater, graywater or blackwater),
  • Whether the use is indoor or outdoor
  • How you will (re)use the water, (potable or nonpotable)
  • As well as what type of facility it is (residential, commercial, institutional, industrial), often referred to as the “occupancy”.
