Portland's Sewers are Right as Rain

Storm-water runoff is the No. 1 cause of water pollution in suburban and
rural areas. But in Portland, Oregon, an innovative system of curbs,
gutters, roofs and rain gardens diverts runoff and sharply cuts water
pollution - and is spawning a major tourist attraction.
Course date: April 26th-30th 8am-5pm
Course location: Oakland, CA
Cost: $595

Interested in learning all about greywater, installing your own system, or
becoming a greywater installer for your area? This course is designed for
people with either basic plumbing, landscaping, or permaculture skills who
want to learn how to design and build simple, low-tech residential
greywater systems.

Green Roof Boot Camp

The California Water Quality Monitoring Council has released the third "My Water Quality" internet portal to connect decision makers and the public with water quality information. The theme of this new portal is "Are Our Wetland Ecosystems Healthy?"

The State of California has released the final 20x2020 Water Conservation Plan.  In February 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger set a goal of a twenty percent reduction in statewide per capita water use by 2020 and asked state agencies to develop an aggressive plan to achieve the goal.  The plan can be found on the 20x2020 Agency Team on Water Conservation page of the State Water Resources Control Board Web site:

Find Water Polluters Near You

Not in my backyard. Check out your state from the list below

Search data on more than 200,000 facilities around the nation permitted to discharge pollutants.

Storm water data is now available in our public reports. While the storm water data is now housed in a separate database, known as the Storm Water Multiple Application and Report Tracking System 2 (SMARTS2), the reports contain data from both this system and CIWQS.

We have also released a new public report, the Penalty Project Report. This report allows the user to search for a list of enforcement actions that have a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) and/or a Compliance Project (CP). The user can drill to details about those projects including their monetary amount and status.

You can access these reports at: http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/ciwqs/publicreports.shtml

Please contact me if you have questions or comments.
